A partial listing of some of the recent assignments undertaken by the AquaSol,Inc. team includes the following:

  • Mr. Frese is currently on retainer with the law firm Shook, Hardy & Bacon. He is performing work related to two cases involving shrimp farming. Claims made by two Ecuadorian shrimp farms are that a fungicide manufactured by Du Pont killed shrimp on these farms. The two cases are Aquamar v. Du Pont and DIBSA v. Du Pont. Mr. Frese’s work is focused on one of his areas of expertise – shrimp farming;
  • AquaSol, Inc. was placed under retainer to investigate the feasibility of a proposed USD 9 million cobia cage culture project in The Bahamas. Initial consulting work focused on identifying suitable sites for marine fish culture in The Bahamas. A suitable site has been identified and a site analysis has been completed and efforts to secure a significant seabed lease from the Bahamian government are pending;
  • AquaSol, Inc. was placed under retainer to investigate the feasibility of a USD 10 million Tilapia farming project in Guatemala. A site search, site analysis, and preliminary feasibility study was completed and detailed recommendations were delivered to the client. A report on the recommended structuring of the marketing arrangement between the US and local investor was also provided to the US investor;
  • Mr. Frese is developing a co-operative sustainable fish farming model community for ultimate deployment in the fight against hunger and poverty in Africa. To enable future visibility and access to non-profit funding, the web site fishfarmer.org has been reserved;
  • Worked on special projects for one of the largest Tilapia farming companies in Central America. Previous areas of assistance have included a wholesale selling price cost increase justification study, a comparative case study on cage culture practices in major producing countries, development of company position statements, and development of presentations on high profile issues such as organic aquaculture standards and food safety;
  • Assisted a European wealth management group that was interested in developing an investment vehicle focused exclusively on publicly-traded aquaculture companies. At the time, the client had approximately USD 1.5 billion in assets under management. AquaSol, Inc. provided aquaculture industry expertise and formulated a set of key investment screening criteria and performed preliminary due diligence work on the universe of approximately sixty publicly-traded aquaculture companies;
  • Provided assistance to a development company that was investigating the feasibility of establishing a commercial recirculating aquaculture system in Highlands County, Florida (USA);
  • Provided exclusive representation to a U.S. private equity investor seeking investment opportunities in the aquaculture industry. At the time of engagement, this well known client had a net worth in excess of USD 1 billion. Duties included sourcing of investment opportunities, aquaculture due diligence, investment recommendations, and ongoing advisement;
  • AquaSol, Inc. was under exclusive contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Chemonics Corporation and a local Ugandan investor to prepare an in-depth feasibility study for a proposed commercial Tilapia cage culture project in Lake Victoria. Key components of this study included an exhaustive site search of Lake Victoria for sites suitable for commercial cage culture, site search for suitable land-based locations for hatchery development, site analysis of the highest potential sites, an assessment of both traditional and fish farming infrastructure, an environmental impact study, a social impact study, development of commercial production protocols, delivery of an European Union (EU) market analysis, development of a strategic EU marketing plan, and delivery of a bankable financial feasibility analysis;
  • Performed an appraisal of several aquaculture assets for the largest aquaculture company in Belize. A site analysis and a feasibility study of a potential Tilapia farming venture were performed and an assessment of a non-operational shrimp farm was conducted;
  • Assisted a Brazilian client investigating a major investment in a greenfield Tilapia farming project in Brazil. The Consultant delivered a detailed report on the market for farm-raised Tilapia in the United States. This in-depth report capitalized on face-to-face interviews with local seafood importers and wholesalers and an extensive telephone marketing survey of major buyers of farm-raised Tilapia in the United States;
  • Delivered aquaculture consulting services to an existing fish farming operation in California. Advisement was given on a wide range of issues including design, construction, equipment sourcing, farm management, inventory management, production methods, water quality monitoring, broodstock sourcing, and hatchery development;
  • Advised a Vietnamese client on all phases of development of a vertically integrated Tilapia farming industry in Vietnam. Areas of advisement included commercial hatchery production, fry production, fingerling production, cage culture growout, feed formulation, processing plant safety, sanitation, HACCP protocols, U.S. market analysis, and development of a U.S. marketing office.   • Investigated the feasibility of converting two of the largest vertically integrated shrimp farm in Ecuador, either wholly or in part, to tilapia farming operations. Together, these two farms contained more than 4,000 hectares of farming area. Recommendations were made on how to improve production of tilapia farming activities that were already underway. A strategic plan was developed that would increase production from tilapia farming by several orders of magnitude over existing production levels. Recommendations were also provided on hatchery, feed and processing plants associated with the farms with specific reference to improvements that would be required for the major expansion into tilapia farming. Recommendations were given on hatchery production, growout production, feed quality, and processing. The plan was successfully implemented and the operators became some of the largest producers of Tilapia in Latin America;
  • Advised on a proposed 1,000-hectare Tilapia farming project in Suriname. Work on this ambitious project included a comprehensive site analysis, feasibility study, preliminary design work and development of production protocols;
  • Delivered project development and project management services for a new Tilapia farming project in Venezuela. Over a three-year period, AquaSol, Inc. managed this project through all phases of development. Some of the areas where expertise was provided to this project included site analysis, feasibility analyses, market analyses, development of the farm design, materials sourcing, farm construction, contract farm management, development of the production manual, financial analyses, training, water quality management, hatchery management, disease diagnosis, processing plant development and long-term strategic planning.
  • Provided project management services for a new shrimp hatchery and intensive growout operation to be developed in the Turks & Caicos Islands, BWI. Completed work included an extensive site search, site analysis and local interface with key government officials.
  • Provided technical consulting services for a client was interested in investing in an existing shrimp farming operation and retained our firm's technical expertise. Responsibilities included client consultation, expert opinion and valuation of an existing shrimp farming operation; Site search, site analysis and preliminary feasibility analysis for several different private Venezuelan clients. All clients had the similar goal of seeking to establish commercial shrimp farming projects in the coastal zones of Venezuela. Responsibilities included technical advisement, site search,site analysis and financial feasibility;
  • Advisor to an established South Florida importer and producer of African Cichlids. Over the course of nearly one year, areas of focus for this client included refinement of farm and business management practices, disease diagnosis and the development of effective disease treatment protocols;
  • Developer and moderator of the Tilapia Mailing List on Yahoo!Groups. The list is ready to break the 4,000 reader barrier in 2010. In 2009, the list celebrated its 10 year anniversary. The Tilapia Mailing List has grown into a valuable resource for tilapia farmers worldwide;
  • Prepared a comparative production cost analysis for one of the largest fish processing equipment manufacturers in the United States. This analysis was commissioned on behalf of one of their own clients and it investigated the feasibility of producing value-added tilapia fillets in the US;
  • Complete analysis of the largest freshwater shrimp farming operation in the Dominican Republic. Efforts on this investigative mission included water quality analysis and an independent assessment of current management practices. A report to the client was issued with recommendations on how to improve the efficiency and profitability of the overall operation;
  • Advisor to Nova Companies (Belize), the largest shrimp farming operation in Belize. Areas of involvement with this farm included strategic planning,financial analysis, production analysis, business plan development and equity capital sourcing.
  • Founder and team leader of a proposed startup shrimp farming venture in Costa Rica. Conducted comprehensive research into all relevant areas pertaining to starting a semi-intensive shrimp farming project. Considerable effort was devoted to country analysis, actual site analysis and selection, development of a production plan, team selection and leadership. An in-depth US market study for farm-raised shrimp and a complete financial feasibility analysis were also prepared. These efforts were documented in a comprehensive business plan and presented to prospective investors.
  • Assisted in the construction and management of an intensive Redfish (Sciaenops ocellatus) production facility. The facility was constructed as part of an overall effort to restock Biscayne Bay with Redfish. The State of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection funded the project. Upon completion of construction, responsibilities shifted to operational management. Responsibilities included day-to-day management and supervision of employees, fish husbandry, water quality monitoring, records management and the development of experimental design procedures. During the five years working at the lab, Mr. Frese gained extensive experience in all phases of Redfish culture and aquaculture practices in general. Graduate research focused on designing and statistical testing of effective disease treatment regimens for larval and juvenile Redfish
